A Time to Bloom
My friend Budd rated the following as the most succinct statement of my raison d’être as a writer and citizen of the universe:

I am apparently stuck with this ravenous appetite for making connections, for following the root to the stalk to the branches to the leaves to the blossoms to the cattle that munch them and the insects that sip and nibble and cleverly pollinate and the invisible but productive interactions of soil, water and air, of sun and wind and cycles. That all of these miraculous things are going on around me and that I can stand witness to them makes me feel tightly interlocked into the universal puzzle, a small piece of a huge picture.
